The End of Times

On the headlines today in the UK "A thirteen year old boy and a 15 year old girl have become parents".

To see the state of this kid he looks as though he himself has just been potty trained let alone out there having unprotected sex and fathering a child. The fact that this can and has happened says a lot about the current society we inhabit.

Questions that spring to mind are;

Where were his/her parents?
What values and principles were these kids taught if any?
Is society becoming more and more irresponsible?

The story has been broadcast on the hour every hour throughout the day and every time it airs I shake my head in amazement, my only thought; that the parents deserve a whipping. Why you might ask? Because ultimately though they are now parents of a new born they themselves are still children and should have been guided correctly. Are they now going to go out and work to support their family? Of course not as they are too young to do so... he instead will probably be going back to school like a good little boy whilst both sets of grand-parents take turns looking after his child.... the thought of even having a child now scares me... ultimately because children deserve to be loved and cared for and thought should be given towards their care and upbringing prior to bringing them into the world.

Sometimes on hearing and seeing what's happening in the world today I long for the old days growing up in the Caribbean, when kids were content with being kids and had fun being children not being given/ bought toys sometimes but instead using our imaginations and making our own, growing up without technology.... It was great!!

And so I leave you with one final thought to brood over;

Can you yourself imagine having a 13 year old child at the age of 26?
